"Diagnosis and intervention in mild pediatric TBI".
The workshop will focus on the unique factors to consider in the assessment and intervention of mild traumatic brain injuries/concussions in the developing child and adolescent. A broadband multi-modal approach to assessment will be presented, as well as an intervention approach that focuses on the child at home and school, and return to play/ sports. In addition, youth concussion educational materials will be presented for use in the medical, school, and sports/ recreation systems.

The talk will focus on the concepts and skills necessary to assess the executive functions in the child and adult. A model of executive function based on ecological validity will be presented including the range of methods for their assessment. Clinical manifestations will be discussed and a practical approach to intervention will be discussed.

"Biopsychosocial Outcome from Mild Traumatic Brain Injury."
The workshop will review outcome from mild traumatic brain injury in athletes, civilians, and military personnel from a biopsychosocial perspective. A diverse range of topics will be covered, including (a) pathophysiology, (b) natural history, (c) recent research relating to white matter integrity, (d) differential diagnosis of the post-concussion syndrome, and (e) strategies for improving the assessment of cognition diminishment and impairment.
